Extreme Camping:first and probably the last time in OBS
5D4N in Pulau Ubin is BIG BIG deal.I never knew OBS would be so bad.I return home with serious and painful sunburn. My dad says I look like a piece of ready-to-eat char siew.So funny, papa.
Day1
I was posted to the group Hillary as soon as we were at the OBS campsite. My group consists of people from Yuying Secondary,Maris Stella,Canberra(?) Seconday, and KCP!There was this guy from MSH name Ding Yi who looks like Clement. They are like twins!Even their character are alike.Tsktsk.First day at OBS was bad.Everything I did or wherever I went,I missed home terribly.I couldn't help it anymore so I just cried on Eugenie's shoulders while I was making my way to destination A and she was making hers to destination B.To make matters worse, she cried too,and I cried even harder.
Day 2
It was the usual;high rope elements, rock climbing, kayaking and jetty jump. The National Camp I went to gave me enough experience and courage to do so,especially the jetty jump.Somehow, there wasn't this unity that bonded Hillary together. We were like familiar strangers. It didn't feel right having them as team-mates to work with throughout the rest of the camp.Whew.By night,I made some new friends from Yuying Secondary and Canberra(?) Secondary. The MSH guys are so shy. They only stayed within their own cliques. They named Tat Heng, crocodile, and Shoban, chio bu.Haha.We manage to befriend them later but that was about the last 2 days or so.That night,I didn't have to cry to sleep anymore. You could say I was too exhausted.
Day 3
Expedition begins today.Together with 4 other watches,we kayaked from OBS campsite 2 to campsite 1 for at least 7hours.The sun was so hot and the sea was rough.Bleah..I can still feel myself shaking in the kayak by the tides.A gulp of seawater would give one kidney failure.I had half a mouthfull and I can feel my kidney breaking down.We reached our destination at around 2plus and we thought that marks the end of our expedition. We were so wrong. We had to hiked up to our camp area in the forest with our heavy bag packs and that took us at least an hour.Because there wasn't any proper toilets for bathing or pee-ing,we had to get the guys to keep on a look out for us.Lol.And we all smell of seawater that evening.Eeeww.
Day 4
At the campsite 1,we rock-climbed somemore and tried on the flying fox.So fun!The flying fox is said to be one of the longest here in Southeast Asia. The rain came and spoilt the day.BOOs.The remaining time was spent on hiking back to where we came from-campsite 2-which was sobloody far.For once,I really wished I was on the 21 Day Camp.I was having so much fun and I really enjoyed the people's company.Hillary wanted to ton the night away but thanks to the rain,we had to sleep in tha 'hall' with the other groups. What a way to end the last night. ):
Day 5
Saying good-byes are never easy.As soon as we did our area cleaning and packing up our stuff,we assembled outside the souvenier shop and got our stuff. When the fella announced for KCP students to step out,we hugged goodbye.Oh my oh my.It was so hard to part.
It's good to be back though.I feel much secure back here at mainland.I can finally sleep without my hair wet, feeling uncomfortable and not knowing what's going to happen next since the instructors there wouldn't tell us what the schedule would be.We had to work with Mother Nature which always went against us in every way.Well well,we made it in the end.Back in a piece but just turned tanner.I will miss OBS and the friends I make there.Sobsob.
I want MORE OBS!
